Caritas Diocese of Kabgayi participated in the ceremony of closing ECD month (Earl Childhood Development)

This ceremony was held in Kabacuzi sector on the October 2, 2023. This month started on September 4, 2023 where parents were sensitized to care fore the childhood development of their children. Caritas of the Diocese of Kabgayi contributed to donating more than 350 clothes to children in ECDs

The ceremony was attended by various officials including the head of the Department of Health in the Muhanga district, the director of Caritas DioceseKabgayi  as Caritas  is a partner of the Muhanga district ECDs monitoring activities, Administration of Kabacuzi Sector, health center manager Kabacuzi Health Center, Health Advisors, family friends, and parents with children fostered in ECDs of Kabacuzi.

During this event, the children were fed healthy meal prepared by some of their parents in collaboration with health advisors and family friends.

In his speech, Father Jean Berchmans GASASIRA, Director of Caritas Diocese of Kabgayi, advised that fighting against malnutrition is possible through self-reliance. There are difference possibilities through having a kitchen gardens for every household and it id not difficult.  He also explained that through raising small domestic animals, every body can fight against malnutrition at their homes  Among these animals, there are chickens, rabbits and pigs. Father Jean Barchmans emphasized that chickens lay eggs to be fed to children in order to protect them from malnutrition.

Caritas of Kabgayi Diocese decided help ECDs working in Kabacuzi Sector throigh raising chicken for laying eggs to delivered as soon as possible.

The District Officer in charge of the Health Department thanked Caritas  Diocese of Kabgayi for the partnership in this program. “Caritas is a good partner of Muhanga District in various departments including health, social welfare and development. Its cooperation is highly appreciated by the District.”
